When taken to the hospital, it is important that you be aware your coverage status may be affected by whether you are 'observed' or 'admitted.' Isador Cassuto and his wife, Thalia were shocked to learn that although Isador had been brought in by ambulance, flat on his back, unable to walk, his rehabilitation would not be covered because the hospital had assessed and 'observed' him, not admitted him. The difference in coverage amounted to more than $6000.00.
