RC 43 President , Felicia Bruce, has been recognized by the Florida Alliance of Retired Americans, FLARA, as having made service to others a key part of her life. She has served RC 43 as VP for several terms and in July made the transition to President.
Recently Deb Peterson announced that she would not be seeking another term as President but would like to continue representing RC43 as a delegate. The usual transfer of office takes place immediately following our Annual Conference. However, with all NYSUT meetings canceled until at least October 1st, the RC 43 Executive Board has agreed to a transition effective immediately. That means that I am stepping into BIG SHOES effective immediately.
The message resonates. As a member of several organizations, I hear the same questions asked, listen to the same challenges posed, and see the same faces. The reason is simple; every group is experiencing similar problems: too few new members, too many aging members, too few people doing the work.
Organized and led by TRIF Council 43 President Deb Peterson, unit representatives received valuable information on a variety of topics ranging from Member Services, Legislative Updates, Retirement Security, Pension Information, the importance of VOTE COPE contributions and, of course, executive board members' reports.
