It’s hard to tell what the voting environment in our country will look like in November, but we know one thing for sure: many Floridians across the state will be relying on vote by mail to make their voices heard.
Every Floridian should have the option to vote by mail, early in-person, or on Election Day. But if masses of voters request their vote-by-mail ballots near the October 24th request deadline, it will be difficult for county Supervisors of Elections to keep up.
So right now, one of the best things you can do for democracy is to help “flatten the mail ballot curve.” That means if you’re planning on voting by mail in the November election, request your ballot today.
If Floridians start requesting their vote-by-mail ballots now, we’ll make things much easier for our county supervisors of elections -- who will be able to spread out their workload over the course of the next few months.
Here’s how to request your vote-by-mail ballot:
Once your application is received, you will be able to track it through your county Supervisor of Elections at this link. And don’t panic if you don’t receive the ballot right away! The Supervisors of Elections won’t begin to send them out until the week of September 24th.
Supervisors of Elections are doing their best, but most counties don’t have the systems in place to meet a surge in demand for vote-by-mail ballots on a short time frame. That’s why it’s critical for you to make your vote-by-mail ballot request ASAP.
Flattening the mail ballot curve will ease the pressure on county supervisors of elections as they get close to Election Day.
And by reducing the likelihood of crowds and long lines, you’ll also be helping to protect those voters who choose to cast their ballot in-person this November 3rd.
The sooner you get your ballot request in, the easier it’ll be for our elections officials to carry out a safe, secure, and accessible election.
Protect yourself and your fellow Floridians by joining us in flattening the vote-by-mail ballot curve.
