Treasure Coast Unions Make The Holiday Bright

We don't always know how far our words or actions reach....but this holiday season the Treasure Coast Unions gave a lot and reached far and wide.

While having breakfast at Lendzi's Diner on US 1 in Fort Pierce, the owner, Deb, passed 'the bucket' with a notice on it. She had heard that Castle, the St. Lucie County Children's Services, was short on gifts for the 300+ children they serve in the area. She asked all her patrons to make a donation that would benefit the kids and so the dollars were dropped into the makeshift container.

One of the patrons took the message to heart and called a friend, Pat Emmerson, Chair of the Treasure Coast Central Labor Council whose response was immediate and heartfelt. She asked all her members to bring toys to the union hall whether coming on official or unofficial business...and come they did! The toys were loaded into a truck and driven to the offices of the Council in time for sorting and distribution before the holiday.

Thanks go out to all the union members who live by the credo “We're all in this together” and who answer the call to help others whenever asked.  The Treasure Coast Central Labor Council is part of the national network of AFL-CIO labor union affiliates that work together for the benefit of working families. Teachers unions, both active and retirees, are well represented on the Council, including RC 43.
