Mike Mulgrew reiterated continued volunteering in phone banks and reminded everyone the importance of VOTE/COPE donations of our combined membership to offset the continued threats and heavily funded campaigns from charter and private schools which will continue to siphon funds from public education.
Concerns were addressed in regard to the court case in Illinois, Janus VS AFSCME Council 31 and Teamsters Local 916 ending mandatory union fees in the public sector.
All these attacks on teachers are causing a teacher shortage which may reach a critical stage within two years.
