Some of our newly retired colleagues ask, why should I join Teacher Retirees In Florida? The Board of Retiree Council 43 would like to dedicate this article and the information provided within as a response to that inquiry.
Teacher Retirees In Florida (TRIF) is your direct tie to NYSUT, A Union of Professionals. As a NYSUT retiree, you are a lifetime member of NYSUT and a lifetime member of your original local. However, TRIF is a conduit for delivering information specifically geared to your interests as a retiree here in Florida. Just as importantly, the TRIF Officers and Delegates, through the RC 43 Board, provide a pipeline back to the staff and officers of NYSUT. This feedback places focus on issues important to us as retired members such as Social Security, Healthcare and Pension Security.
Membership in TRIF UNITS is open to all NYSUT retirees, spouses or survivors of NYSUT retiree, to any other education affiliated individual and/or to any person who supports the goals and programs of NYSUT. Remember, NYSUT, A Union of Professionals membership is inclusive of higher education; SRP; nurses; and teachers of elementary schools, junior high schools and high schools.
We encourage you to support the efforts of your retired colleagues as they work to represent and communicate your special concerns to our NYSUT leadership in NY with a strong emphasis on retaining the benefits we enjoy as retirees. Join Teacher Retirees In Florida! You can find the contact person for the TRIF Unit in your area inside this website.
